Displaying a collection or holding a part: two needs, two products

Match the stand to the weight and the viewing angle

An adjustable multi-angle acrylic stand suits tilted handheld consoles: Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP or PS Vita. The U-shaped holders and the 10 or 15 cm adhesive wall shelves are aimed more at figurines and cartridges, and go up without drilling. For an item you want to protect, the Game Boy Color acrylic display case adds a magnetic lid that keeps dust down. The universal controller stand, for its part, fits on a desk with no tools.

A modding adhesive is not a decorating adhesive

  • 1.1 mm VHB: foam tape intended to hold an IPS screen or a battery inside a shell.
  • 1 mm foam: a 3 m roll for the usual internal bonds in repair work.
  • Wall adhesive: the shelves go up without drilling, but the surface must be smooth and degreased.

What it doesn't do

An acrylic stand is not protection against impacts or against sunlight, which yellows shells. An adhesive shelf will not hold heavy loads, nor stick to a grainy or freshly painted wall. And double-sided tape is not repositionable: removing it often leaves residue to clean off.

Questions fréquentes

Do adhesive wall shelves really hold without drilling?
Yes on a smooth, clean, degreased surface: tiling, glass, varnished wood or satin paint in good condition. The 10 and 15 cm models are meant for figurines and small objects. Avoid bare plasterboard, wallpaper and fresh paint, where the adhesive pulls the covering off.
Which double-sided tape should you use to fit an IPS screen?
The 1.1 mm VHB foam tape is intended for that job: its thickness makes up for the gap between screen and shell, and it stands up to internal heat. The 3 m roll of 1 mm foam suits thinner bonds, a battery or a ribbon cable. Always degrease both surfaces before applying.
Does the adjustable stand suit a modern handheld console?
The multi-angle acrylic stand is designed for handheld consoles of classic size, from the Game Boy to the PS Vita by way of the Nintendo DS and the PSP. A wider, heavier model will hold provided its centre of gravity stays within the base, but check the stated dimensions before ordering.
