1.1 mm VHB foam tape: fix parts without screws, without glue oozing out
When you fit an IPS screen kit into a handheld console, wedge a Li-ion battery into the bottom of a shell or press a ribbon cable along a housing, a screw is almost never an option. This 1.1 mm thick double-sided acrylic foam tape does the job: it holds firmly, it makes up for minor unevenness, and it cuts to the length you need with scissors.
What it does
- 1.1 mm thickness: the foam fills the gap between the panel and the shell, where a thin adhesive leaves a gap visible in raking light.
- Eight widths, from 5 to 50 mm: 5 and 8 mm around a handheld screen, 15 to 20 mm for a battery or a speaker, 30 to 50 mm for a plate, a mount or a bartop panel.
- 3-metre roll: enough to do several consoles with a single purchase, without buying a new strip for every project.
- Black foam: invisible behind a tinted lens or a dark front panel, unlike a clear adhesive that shows every bubble.
What it doesn't do
- It is not a repositionable adhesive. Once the strip is pressed down, removing it takes nylon thread, isopropyl alcohol and patience: dry-fit the part before peeling off the protective liner.
- It does not replace a mechanical fixing on a part under repeated stress: hinge, trigger, heavy screen mount on an arcade cabinet.
- Adhesion drops sharply on soft plastics (PP, PE, silicone) and on any greasy, dusty or freshly painted surface. Degreasing is not optional.
- We do not state any brand or original part number. This roll is sold for what we can say about it: double-sided acrylic foam, 1.1 mm, 3 m, width of your choice.
- Long-term resistance outdoors, to UV and to high heat is not documented by the supplier: we do not claim it.
Compatibility
Generic workshop tape, not tied to any specific console. It bonds well to the rigid plastics of shells (ABS, polycarbonate), to the glass and acrylic of screen lenses, to painted or bare metal and to coated circuit boards. It is not suitable for soft plastics such as PP and PE, open-cell foams, fabrics, or surfaces that heat up beyond normal household use. On a handheld console, the 5 and 8 mm widths are the only ones really practical around a panel.
Skill level required
None. No soldering, no cutting the shell, no specialist tools: scissors or a craft knife are enough to cut the length you need. The only step not to rush is preparation: degrease both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol, let them dry, apply, then press for about thirty seconds. An acrylic adhesive reaches its working strength after a few hours and its maximum strength after one to three days — avoid putting stress on the part during that time.

The job: sticking what can't be screwed
Open any handheld console from the 1990s: half of what holds together inside is held by adhesive, not by screws. Screen lens, ribbon cable, speaker, foam padding. When you reassemble a machine after an IPS kit or a battery replacement, those bonds have to be redone. That is exactly what this roll is for.
The strip: foam, not sticky tape
A thin double-sided tape bonds two perfectly flat surfaces. A retro console has none: the plastic is thirty years old and has warped. The 1.1 mm foam backing absorbs these irregularities and spreads the pressure instead of concentrating it on three points. That is the reason for this thickness, not a sales pitch.
Support: the right width first time
Eight widths are available because a screen surround and a bartop panel have nothing in common. 5 and 8 mm around a panel, 15 to 20 mm for a battery or a speaker, 30 to 50 mm for a plate or a mount. If you are unsure about your build, write to us: reply within 1 business day.

Frequently Asked Questions
🔧 Do I need to solder or cut anything?
No. The tape cuts to the length you need with scissors or a craft knife. No soldering, no cutting the shell, no specialist tools.
🧼 How should I prepare the surfaces before sticking?
Degrease both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol, let them dry completely, apply the strip and then press for about thirty seconds. This is the step that determines how well it holds.
📏 Which width should I choose for an IPS screen kit?
5 or 8 mm around a handheld console panel, 15 to 20 mm for a battery or a speaker, 30 to 50 mm for a plate, a mount or a bartop panel.
♻️ Can the tape be removed without breaking the part?
It is possible but slow: nylon thread worked like a saw under the part, then isopropyl alcohol for the residue. An acrylic foam adhesive is not designed to be repositioned.
🔋 Can this tape hold a Li-ion battery in place?
Yes, it is a common use in modding to secure a battery at the bottom of a shell. However, avoid using it as the only fixing for a heavy part or one exposed to knocks.
📦 What's in the box?
One roll of double-sided foam tape, 1.1 mm thick and 3 metres long, in the selected width (5 to 50 mm). Nothing else.
🚚 What are the delivery times?
Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.
🛡️ Which guarantee applies?
2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns. French-speaking customer service, reply within 1 business day.
