Description complète
Soldering iron stand: the hot tip no longer touches the workbench
Between two solder joints — a motherboard recap, an IPS screen ribbon cable, a USB-C charging port — the iron has to go somewhere. Laid flat on the bench, it burns the work surface, rolls and ends up falling. This metal cradle stand holds the tip in the air and keeps the cleaning sponge in the same place, so you can clean the tip without letting go of the part you're working on.
What it does
- Metal cradle: the hot tip stays away from the work surface and the power cable.
- Cleaning sponge included: dampened then wrung out, it removes oxide and excess solder between joints.
- One-handed pick-up: put the iron down and pick it up again without taking your eyes off the board or putting down your tweezers.
- Passive accessory: nothing to assemble, nothing to plug in, nothing to adjust.
What it doesn't do
- The soldering iron is not included. This is not a soldering station: no electronics, no temperature control, no cable.
- The supplier's original listing shows station specifications (500 °C, 100-240 V): they do not apply to this stand, which has no electrical parts.
- The supplier does not document what distinguishes versions A, C and C4 — cradle shape, whether or not there is a solder reel holder. Choose based on the photos.
- It does not hold hot air station nozzles or heavy-gauge soldering guns.
- Cleaning with a damp sponge drops the tip temperature. To clean while hot without thermal shock, you need a metal wire ball.
- The sponge is a consumable: it wears down with use and needs replacing.
Compatibility
Designed for pencil-style soldering irons, the most common type in console modding (936 and 907 types and equivalents). As the accessory is entirely passive, it doesn't depend on the brand or power of the iron, and there's no console compatibility to check: it works just as well on a Game Boy Advance as on a PlayStation 1 motherboard or a modern handheld console. However, a very heavy-gauge iron, a soldering gun or a hot air nozzle won't fit in the cradle.
Skill level required
None. Take the stand out of its packaging, dampen the sponge, wring it out and put the iron down. Have a clear work surface and, if you're soldering on a console board, flux and solder close at hand. The stand doesn't replace the usual precautions: never leave a powered iron unattended.

A hot iron has no business lying flat
On a modding bench, the iron spends more time resting than in your hand: you hold a ribbon cable, grip the tweezers, turn the board. That's when the scorching tip ends up against a shell, a cable or the edge of the table. The cradle solves the problem once and for all: the iron always goes back to the same place, in the air, and its cable stops trailing across the work area.
A passive accessory, and that's exactly what it's for
No electronics, no power supply, no temperature control: this stand does just one thing and has nothing that can fail. The metal cradle absorbs the heat, and the sponge is replaced when it wears down. Be careful, however, with the supplier's original listing, which recycles the specifications of a soldering station: this product has no electrical parts.
What you'll need alongside it
The stand is the starting point of a soldering setup, not the whole setup. Alongside it you need a pencil-style iron, flux, solder and desoldering braid for rework. If you solder often, a dry cleaning ball avoids the thermal shock of a damp sponge. We reply within 1 business day if you're unsure which version to choose.

Frequently Asked Questions
🔧 Is the soldering iron supplied with the stand?
No. You receive the stand and its cleaning sponge, nothing else. The iron, its tip and its power supply are up to you.
🎮 What is this stand for when modding a console?
For resting the iron between joints without burning the bench or the shell lying next to it, and for cleaning the tip without switching hands during a motherboard recap or an IPS screen install.
❓ What is the difference between versions A, C and C4?
The supplier doesn't document it: the cradle shape and the presence of a solder reel holder vary from one version to another. Rely on the variant's photos before ordering.
🧽 How do I use the sponge correctly?
Dampen it with clean water, then wring it out: soaking wet, it cools the tip too much. Two wipes are enough, then re-tin with a little fresh solder before putting the iron down.
🔌 Is there anything to plug in or adjust?
No, the accessory is entirely passive. No power supply, no temperature control: the electrical specifications shown on the supplier's original listing do not apply to this stand.
