Renekton Keycaps: what the key changes depending on the switch underneath
You pick a keycap set for its looks, then discover it changes how typing feels. The Renekton set — sand, gold, dark red — is thick PBT in OEM profile: here's what that means in practice depending on your switch type.
On linear switches (reds, Gateron Yellow…)
The travel is smooth, with no bump. A rigid PBT keycap delivers a crisp contact at bottom-out: typing feels drier and more precise than with a soft ABS key. It's the most common pairing among players who hammer their keys.
On tactile switches (browns)
The tactile bump stays perfectly noticeable. PBT doesn't dampen it, unlike a very thin keycap that can vibrate slightly and blur the feel.
On clicky switches (blues)
The click comes from the mechanism, not the key. PBT does, however, lower the pitch of the background noise: the whole thing sounds deeper, less like "hollow plastic."
The set
- 12 keys in PBT, DYE-SUB design
- OEM profile — standard height, no adjustment needed
- Compatibility: MX cross stem (Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu)
- Puller included
Two questions
Do you need to change switches to enjoy the set? No. The OEM profile is the stock standard on most mechanical keyboards: it's a same-height replacement.
Are these keys harder to press? Actuation force comes from the switch spring, not the keycap. Nothing changes there.

The Butcher of the Sands
Renekton has no plan: he has a blade, a rising rage and a ten-second window during which you had better be somewhere else. The set turns that into three tones, the dark red of fury, the ochre of Shuriman sand, the gold of an Ascended's bands, with hard lines rather than gradients. It is a palette that pushes hard: on a black keyboard it bites nicely, on a white one it turns into a warning signal, which may be exactly the effect you want. It is aimed at the top laner who plays the short trade and hits his keys the way he hits in lane. The Renekton artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher.
Fitting and compatibility first, material second
This set ends up under the fingers of a player who presses hard, so let us start with fitting. MX cross-stem: pull off a cap, find a raised cross on the switch and you are set, meaning Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu. OEM profile, whose height changes row by row: put each key back on an equivalent row or you will feel a step as you cross over. The supplied puller slides in diagonally and pulls straight up, all from above. The 12 keys spread out freely, in AZERTY or QWERTY. As for material: PBT, denser than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, matte grain; dye-sublimated pattern that has entered the material, so nothing raised and nothing to chip.
Neither a performance accessory nor a keyboard
A theme this blunt makes you think of a performance accessory: it is not one. Keycaps do not make typing faster or firmer, that stays the business of the switches, which the set does not touch. Nor does it replace the whole keyboard: twelve keys cover one area, and manufacturer-specific widths stay as they were. A membrane keyboard or one with low-profile scissor-mechanism keys has no MX cross-stem, so there is no way to fit it; in the Cherry, XDA or SA profile the height does not line up. Dye-sublimated PBT is opaque, the legends do not light up. The Renekton artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher: not a licensed product.
What this set contains

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of keyboard takes this set?
Any keyboard whose switches show an MX cross-stem, visible when you pull off a cap. That covers Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu, whatever the springs. Left out are membrane keyboards and keyboards with low-profile scissor-mechanism keys.
What is in the pack?
The stated contents are 12 keycaps and one puller. The keys are standard size; manufacturer-specific widths are not covered.
Does the set change how typing feels?
No: travel, actuation and sound depend on the switches, not on the cap. What PBT brings is a higher density than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, and a matte grain under the finger.
Does the red hold up next to my original keys?
The dark red and the Shuriman ochre stand out clearly against a black keyboard. Next to plain black caps, the fitted area reads as a solid block: this is a set that chooses to be visible rather than discreet.
How do I clean them?
A soft cloth, barely damp, no solvent. The pattern has passed into the material through sublimation, so rubbing does not attack it and there is no edge to peel.
Is this an official League of Legends product?
No. This is an illustration inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher. It is not a licensed product.
