How you actually connect it
The manufacturer's listing gives two routes, USB or Bluetooth, but the box only contains the controller: bring your own cable. On PS4, you plug the controller in over USB, press the central button and the console pairs it. On PC, the simplest route is through Steam, which recognises the PlayStation layout and handles button mapping. On Android and iOS, pairing is done from the phone's Bluetooth menu, and support then depends on each individual game.
What it isn't
This is not a Sony DualShock 4: it's an unbranded third-party controller, and the listing doesn't say whether it is licensed. Does it work on PS5?
Not for PS5 games. A PS4-type controller is only accepted on PlayStation 5 in backward-compatible PS4 games. That's a rule of the console itself, not a flaw of this model: no PS4 controller, official or not, will launch a PS5 game.
Is a cable included?
The box contents stated by the manufacturer mention only the controller and its packaging. No cable is listed, even though the USB connection is recommended. Plan on supplying your own cable.
Is it recognised by PC games?
Windows sees a PS4-type controller as DirectInput. In Steam, PlayStation support is built in and the setup happens on its own in most cases. Outside Steam, some games won't detect it without third-party remapping software.
What is the 3,5 mm jack for?
For plugging a wired headset straight into the controller. On PS4, game audio and voice chat then go through the headset. On other platforms this jack isn't always used: it depends on the system.
Does the motion sensor work everywhere?
No. The manufacturer states a 6-axis sensor, but its use depends entirely on the game and the platform. On PC, gyro aiming is only available in games and emulators that support it.
