Nasus Keycaps: when the color goes into the plastic
Most decorated keys you come across carry their design on the plastic. This set works differently: the color is in the plastic. That's the whole difference between surface printing and sublimation, and it's what explains how well the ochres of the Curator of the Sands hold up over time.
What DYE-SUB actually does
The DYE-SUB process heats a dye until it turns into a gas. Under the heat, the pores of the PBT open slightly, the dye penetrates, then the material closes up again as it cools. So the design isn't a layer: it's the plastic itself that has changed color to a depth of a few tenths of a millimeter.
Three concrete consequences
- No relief: you can't feel the design under your finger, the surface stays uniform
- No flaking: there's nothing to peel off, unlike an applied layer
- Invisible wear: the material wears along with its color, so the legend doesn't disappear before the key
The process's limit, stated honestly
Sublimation works by darkening the material: it can't print lighter than the base. That's why DYE-SUB sets favor light backgrounds with dark designs. The Nasus theme is a perfect fit: sand, ochre, burnished gold and Shurima stone for the background, enhanced with turquoise blue and deep brown for the engravings.
The set in practice
Twelve keys in OEM profile, compatible with MX cross stems (Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu), puller included for removal.
The other sublimated sets in the same desert family are worth a look: Renekton keycaps for a more aggressive ochre, Azir keycaps for imperial gold, and Illaoi keycaps for a greener, more marine stone.
What we're asked most
Can you clean them without erasing the design? Yes, with no particular risk: rubbing can't reach a surface layer because there isn't one.
Why are there so few very dark DYE-SUB sets? Because the dye can only darken: on black PBT, a light design is impossible to achieve by sublimation.

The Curator of the Sands and his patience
Nasus wins nothing in the first ten minutes, and everyone knows it, himself included. He stacks, he absorbs, and by the thirtieth minute he is the problem nobody solved. The set carries the colours of that patience: Shurima ochres, pale sandstone, the gold of his pectoral and a cold turquoise for the stone of his staff. A warm, bright palette, unlike the dark sets: it lifts a black keyboard by contrast and blends into a wooden desk. This is the set for the top-lane player who plays his curve, lets the storm pass and knows exactly when the game tips. The Nasus artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher.
A light palette, and the question of marks
On sand and gold tones it's the marks you see, not wear on the pattern: that is where PBT counts. Denser than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, it starts with a matte grain that doesn't go shiny in the first month and cleans up with a barely damp cloth. The pattern itself doesn't move: dye-sublimated, the heated colour sinks into the material instead of sitting on top of it. No raised layer, no edge to chip, and the legend won't fade before the key does. Mounted on MX cross-stem switches (Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu), OEM profile, puller included, everything done from above.
Material isn't everything
A set introduced through its printing process suggests everything is decided in the material: the rest of the keyboard doesn't change for all that. Twelve keys dress one area and don't cover the rows, keys in manufacturer-specific widths are not covered, and sound and travel come from your switches. Without an MX cross-stem no fitting is possible: membrane keyboards and low-profile scissor-switch keyboards are out, and a keyboard built in Cherry, XDA or SA profile won't have the right height. The gold of the set doesn't light up either, dye-sublimated PBT being opaque. And the Nasus artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher: not a licensed product.
What this set contains

Frequently Asked Questions
Which keyboards take this set?
Those whose switch shows a raised cross, that is an MX cross-stem: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu. Pull off a cap to check. A membrane keyboard or one with low-profile scissor switches is out of reach.
What is included?
The stated contents are 12 keycaps and one puller. Standard size, free placement on the keyboard; keys in manufacturer-specific widths are not covered.
Will this warm palette suit my keyboard?
On a black keyboard the ochres and gold stand out clearly and form a bright island. On a white keyboard the contrast softens and the turquoise becomes the only cool point in the whole thing.
What does the artwork represent?
The register is that of Shurima: sandstone, gold and the stone of the staff, spread across the twelve keys. It is an original design, not a reproduction of any in-game visual.
How do you look after a light surface?
A soft cloth, barely damp, is enough, without solvent. Marks show up faster on sand than on black, but the matte grain of PBT doesn't go shiny and the sublimated pattern doesn't rub off: nothing to protect.
Is this an official League of Legends product?
No. What you see is artwork inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher, not a licensed product. They are keyboard keycaps, nothing more.
