Miss Fortune keycaps: the same red, two very different results

The Miss Fortune set revolves around a rich corsair red, softened by burgundy, leather browns and gold trims that recall her pistols. It is a palette that interacts with its surroundings, not a neutral one: depending on the color of the keyboard you put it on, it tells two different stories. Better to know that before ordering.

On a black keyboard: ember effect

Black absorbs the light around the keys and pushes the red toward the dark side. The 12 caps become isolated hot spots, a bit like embers on coal. The gold trims then stand out clearly, since they are the lightest value in the set. This is the choice if you want a dramatic keyboard, where only a few keys catch the eye.

On a white keyboard: pop effect

A light base, on the other hand, raises the overall brightness: the red looks more vivid, almost like an ad, and the burgundy gains depth through contrast. The gold, however, blends more into the surrounding white. This is the option for a colorful, open setup rather than a nighttime one.

What you receive

Twelve PBT keys, decorated with DYE-SUB printing, in OEM profile, plus a puller. They fit any MX cross stem: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu.

Torn between several reds? The Katarina keycaps lean toward pure scarlet, the Draven keycaps toward a more brutal blood red, and the Jinx keycaps swap warmth for electric pink if you want a clean break.

Before you decide

What about a gray or charcoal keyboard? The look is close to the black base, slightly less sharp: the red stays warm, the gold loses a little of its relief.

Does backlighting change the match? Yes, especially with white or red LEDs, which saturate the set even more. A blue LED, on the other hand, visually cools the burgundies.
