Wired, it really holds 1,000 Hz
The Gamepadla lab bench-tests controllers rather than copying marketing sheets. On the G5 Pro Max connected over USB-C, it records a 1,000 Hz polling rate and 1.10 ms of average latency, with a variation of 0.22 ms. That is the level expected from a competition controller, on a model that costs three times less. Add to that Hall-effect sticks and triggers, buttons with mechanical switches, a 6-axis gyro and two macro paddles.
Wireless, the figures change a lot
This is the detail product pages never mention: the 1,000 Hz applies to the cable only. Again according to Gamepadla, the 2.4 GHz receiver drops to 173 Hz for 5.71 ms of latency, and Bluetooth to 120 Hz for 11.3 ms. The difference between 1.1 ms and 11.3 ms shows in competitive shooters, far less in adventure or racing games. Practical conclusion: cable for ranked play, dongle for the couch, Bluetooth for the phone.
What it isn't
This is not a 1,000 Hz wireless controller: that figure only applies over USB-C. Nor is it a long-battery-life controller: 600 mAh, that is 5 to 8 hours stated by Machenike, which explains the charging dock. The charging stand is a separate accessory supplied in the box, not a device built into the controller. There are only two rear paddles, not four. No 3.5 mm headphone jack. And neither Xbox nor PlayStation is supported.

Why this controller is in our catalogue
We check every controller before listing it. Many never make it in.
Every controller is checked before it enters the catalogue: the platforms it really works on, the technology of its sticks, what it does not do. Many models never make it in, because they do not live up to what they announce. What this one can do, and where it stops, is detailed further down this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 1,000 Hz apply wirelessly?
No. Measurements from Gamepadla give 1,000 Hz over USB-C (1.10 ms), but 173 Hz on 2.4 GHz (5.71 ms) and 120 Hz over Bluetooth (11.3 ms). For maximum responsiveness, play wired.
Is the charging stand built into the controller?
No. It is a separate stand, supplied in the box, that the controller sits on. The controller itself also charges through its USB-C port.
What is the difference with the G5 Pro?
The Pro Max adds the charging dock and climbs to 1,000 Hz wired, where the G5 Pro tops out around 500 Hz. Hall sticks, Hall triggers, gyro and paddles are identical.
How long does the battery last?
The battery is 600 mAh. Machenike states 5 to 8 hours depending on vibration and lighting, with a full charge in 1 to 3 hours.
Does it work on Xbox or PlayStation?
No. Machenike states Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS. Microsoft and Sony consoles are not supported.
How many rear buttons are there?
Two macro paddles, able to record up to 32 actions. They are programmed from the controller or in the Key Linker app.
