Jax Keycaps: the set that stays matte, season after season
On a keyboard used every day, wear doesn't show on the letters first: it shows in the light. A few keys end up catching reflections more than the others, and the whole thing looks mismatched. This set in the Grandmaster at Arms' colors is designed to avoid exactly that.
Keycap shine: the gloss that appears on your most-played keys
Mechanical keyboard fans have a name for it: shine. The repeated friction of your fingers gradually polishes the plastic of the caps. The areas in constant contact — movement, spells and shortcuts — become smooth and glossy while the rest of the keyboard keeps its original look. The result is a two-speed keyboard, with shiny islands in the middle of a matte surface.
The density of PBT versus polishing
This set is molded in PBT, a harder, denser plastic than the one used for the caps that ship with most keyboards. Its surface starts with a matte grain and keeps it: where a soft plastic gets polished under your fingertips, PBT takes the punishment and keeps its dry feel. The difference shows over time, not in the first week.
Legends dyed into the material
The same logic applies to the markings. DYE-SUB printing infuses the dye into the plastic instead of laying it on the surface. So there's no layer to wear down: the designs don't flake under a fingernail and don't fade from the most-used keys.
Armor purple and lantern glow
The design uses Jax's palette: deep purples, steel grays treated like hammered metal, and that amber glow reminiscent of the lamppost he turned into a weapon. The patterns evoke the character's armor and fabrics, in a dark range that sits naturally on a black or gray keyboard.
Specs at a glance
- Material: PBT
- Printing: DYE-SUB
- Quantity: 12 keys
- Profile: OEM
- Compatibility: MX cross stem, i.e. Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu
- Included: a keycap puller
In the same dark range
If dense purples speak to you, the Syndra keycaps work the same family of hues with a brighter look. The Mordekaiser keycaps push the metal-and-armor theme even further. For a warm rather than cool contrast, the Nasus keycaps go for gold and sand.
FAQ
Can PBT end up shining anyway? Much more slowly than a stock cap, and far less visibly, because the initial matte grain is deeper.
Do they need special care? No. Dusting and a slightly damp cloth are enough. No polishing product is needed — it would actually work against the intended look.

The Grandmaster at Arms and his lamppost
Jax has spent centuries waiting for someone worth drawing a real weapon for. In the meantime he swings a lamppost, and that has become his signature. The set plays that mood: muted purples, bluish greys, and the cold glow of the lantern as the only light point in the palette. Nothing loud, nothing pink. A dark ensemble that sits effortlessly on a black keyboard and lets the desk lighting do the rest around the keys. The audience is easy to name: the top or jungle player who quietly builds his items and wins the game twenty minutes later. The Jax artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher.
A legend that outlives your most hammered key
On a melee player two or three keys take everything: that is where the printing process matters. The pattern is dye-sublimated, so the dye enters the material instead of sitting on top of it. No raised layer, no edge to chip, and the legend does not fade before the key itself does. The carrier is PBT, denser than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, starting out with a matte grain. Fitting: MX cross-stems, so Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu; OEM profile, so each cap goes back on an equivalent row or you will feel a step when moving between rows. The supplied puller works from above, without opening the keyboard. AZERTY or QWERTY, it makes no difference.
Neither switches nor a full keyboard
A set sold on its material makes you think it changes the way the keyboard feels: it does not. These are keycaps, and both sound and travel come from the switches, which stay yours. Nor is it a complete covering: twelve keys cover one area, not the keyboard, and manufacturer-specific widths are not included. A membrane keyboard or one with low-profile scissor-mechanism keys has no MX cross-stem, so the set will not go on. In the Cherry, XDA or SA profile the height does not follow. Since dye-sublimated PBT is opaque, the legends do not light up from below. The Jax artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher: not a licensed product.
What this set contains

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this set compatible with my keyboard?
The criterion is the MX cross-stem: pull off a cap, find a raised cross on the switch, and the set clips on. That means Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu. A membrane keyboard or one with low-profile scissor-mechanism keys does not have that stem.
What is in the set?
The stated contents are 12 keycaps and one puller. All standard size: keys with a manufacturer-specific width are not part of the set.
Do the legends stay readable on such a dark palette?
The purples in this set are muted rather than black, and the lantern glow acts as the light point. In a dimly lit room backlighting helps: it travels around the key and picks out its outline, since it does not pass through the pattern.
Which other sets does it pair with?
A dark set combines well with another dark set: themes with cool dominant tones hold together on the same keyboard. Avoid placing it next to a gold and white palette, which flattens the purples.
How do I clean the keys?
A soft cloth, barely damp, never a solvent. The pattern has entered the material through sublimation: it does not rub off, and there is no raised layer to be careful with.
Is this an official League of Legends product?
No. The set is an illustration inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher, and is not a licensed product.
