What it protects
The hard shell takes the crushing — exactly what threatens a 21 cm console packed in a bag next to a laptop. The padded, soft-finish interior protects the screen and buttons from rubbing. Empty, the whole thing weighs 220 g, which stays discreet next to the roughly 400 g of the RG556 itself.
Five variants, two different products
Read the variant before ordering: this page covers two different things. Housse and Housse + Protection include the hard case. The 1x, 2x and 3x Protection variants contain screen protectors only, with no case. Once the right variant is picked, use is simple: console screen against the padded flap, cables in the mesh pocket, zip closed.
What it doesn't do
This is not a moulded case: the supplier lists it for handheld consoles of a similar size, so the RG556 has a little play inside. The console does not charge in it. No drop resistance is stated. And three variants out of five include no case at all.
