GuliKit TMR joysticks with adjustable tension: fixing drift at the source
Joystick drift most often comes from wear on its resistive tracks: the wiper rubs, the track wears out, and the position read becomes wrong. These GuliKit joysticks measure position with a TMR magnetic sensor, with no rubbing contact, and their return spring is adjustable. They are sold in pairs, one version per controller.
What it does
- Contactless TMR sensor: no track wears out through friction, so the most common cause of drift disappears.
- Adjustable tension: the stick resistance can be set to your liking, softer or firmer.
- One version per controller: separate versions for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch Pro, in the format of the original part.
What it doesn't do
- On PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series controllers, the original joysticks are soldered to the board: they have to be desoldered, this is not a clip-in part.
- They do not fix drift caused by a damaged board trace or a software fault.
- They are not suitable for Joy-Con.
- Compatibility with Elite Series 2 and DualSense Edge controllers is not covered by this product page.
Compatibility
PS4 controller (DualShock 4), PS5 controller (standard DualSense), Xbox Series X|S controller and Switch Pro controller: choose the variant that matches your controller, the versions are not interchangeable. Not covered: Joy-Con, Elite Series 2 and DualSense Edge controllers, third-party controllers.
Skill level required
Advanced on PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series: disassembling the controller, desoldering the old joysticks (desoldering pump or wick, fine-tip iron) then soldering the new ones. On Switch Pro, write to our customer service before ordering to find out the procedure. Have precision screwdrivers, a plastic spudger and flux ready.

The job: saving a drifting controller
A character that walks on its own, a camera that turns without you touching anything: the controller is not dead, its joystick is worn. Open the controller, desolder the old module, solder the TMR joystick in its place and close it up. The controller is back in action with a stick that no longer relies on a track that wears out.
The part: a magnetic sensor, an adjustable spring
GuliKit is one of the recognised makers of contactless joysticks. The TMR sensor measures position through a magnetic effect, with no resistive track to wear out. This series adds an adjustable return spring, to get back the original feel or choose a firmer stick. Each controller has its own version, in the format of the part it replaces.
Before soldering: what to plan for
Desoldering a joystick requires a fine-tip iron, flux and a desoldering pump or wick, along with patience so as not to lift a pad. If you have never desoldered a through-hole component, write to our customer service: it replies within 1 business day to tell you whether the job is within your reach.
