Clear shell for GameCube: re-dressing the cube, showing its insides

Second-hand GameCube consoles often arrive scratched, yellowed or with a cracked lid. This translucent replacement shell replaces the original housing and lets you see the electronics. It fits both revisions, DOL-001 and DOL-101, and some variants are matching Game Boy Player shells, for the add-on that attaches under the console.

What it does

• Replaces the damaged housing: scratches, yellowing or a cracked lid go away with the old shell.
• Two revisions covered: DOL-001 and DOL-101, according to the supplier.
• Translucent colours: clear, black, purple, green, dark blue or warm red.
• Kit versions: some variants add items shown on their image.

What it doesn't do

• The “Game Boy Player shell” variants only dress the Game Boy Player add-on, not the console: do not choose them to re-dress your GameCube.
• It does not repair the drive, the fan or the power supply: only the housing parts change.
• The internal parts are transferred from your original console.
• It is not suitable for the Wii or the Panasonic Q.

Skill level required

Intermediate. No soldering. You need to open the console with a security-bit screwdriver suited to the GameCube's screws, transfer the motherboard, drive, fan and ribbon cables into the new shell, then reassemble while respecting their routing.
