Description complète
GameCube power supply: the console starts up again, with no cut-outs or random reboots
The GameCube's original mains adapter is the part that gives out first: cable severed where it leaves the casing, console switching off mid-game, indicator light refusing to come on. This replacement unit supplies the dual voltage the console expects (12 V and 3.4 V on the proprietary connector) and plugs into a European socket. No modification to the console, nothing to take apart.
What it does
- Replaces the original unit: identical proprietary connector, it plugs straight into the back of the console.
- Dual 12 V / 3.4 V output: the GameCube needs both rails at once, a universal 12 V supply on its own isn't enough.
- European mains plug: connects to 220-240 V with no travel adapter.
What it doesn't do
- This isn't an original manufacturer part: it's a compatible third-party unit.
- Doesn't repair a console whose fault lies with the motherboard, the drive or the power button — if the original unit still works, it isn't the problem.
- European plug only: no UK plug and no US plug.
- Doesn't replace the power supply of a Wii, a Wii U, an N64 or any other machine — the GameCube connector is specific.
- No video cable, no controller and no game are supplied.
Compatibility
GameCube console, all shell colours, on a European 220-240 V mains supply. The connector is the one from the original unit.
Not covered: Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 64, SNES, and any console with a single 12 V supply or a standard barrel connector. If your wall socket isn't the European type, this model isn't suitable.
Skill level required
None. No soldering, no disassembly, no tools: unplug the old unit, plug this one in. Just check that the wall socket and the power strip are in good condition — a new unit on a worn-out power strip will produce the same cut-outs.
In the box

The part that gives out first
A GameCube stored in a box for twenty years almost always comes back out complete, with one exception: its mains adapter. The cable bent in the same spot every time it was put away, the strands broke one by one, and the console now switches off in the middle of a game. It's neither the motherboard nor the drive: it's the power supply. It's also the easiest fault to fix, because it calls for no work on the machine itself.
Two voltages, not one
The GameCube isn't happy with 12 V alone like most machines of its era: it expects two rails at once, 12 V and 3.4 V, on a connector found nowhere else. That's why a universal power supply bought at a supermarket won't start the console, even with the right plug. This unit reproduces the original pinout and voltages, which makes it a direct replacement rather than a workaround.
What we state before you buy
This is a compatible third-party unit, not an original manufacturer part: we'd rather write it than let you guess. It comes with a European plug, so it's of no use if your setup runs on UK or US plugs. And while it brings back to life a console whose only dead part was the power supply, it will do nothing for a tired motherboard or a drive that no longer reads. Listing checked on 19 August 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
🔌 Is it compatible with every GameCube?
Yes, the connector is the one from the original unit, whatever the shell colour. It doesn't suit any other console, though: no Wii, no Wii U, no Nintendo 64.
⚡ Why doesn't a universal 12 V power supply work?
The GameCube calls for two voltages at once, 12 V and 3.4 V, on a connector of its own. A plain 12 V unit won't start the console.
🇪🇺 Which wall plug is supplied?
A European plug, for a 220-240 V mains supply. No UK plug and no US plug: this model doesn't suit those installations.
📦 What's in the box?
One AC power supply for GameCube with an EU plug, the cable being captive to the unit. No video cable, no controller, no game.
🧰 Do I need tools or to open the console?
No. No soldering, no disassembly, no tools: you unplug the old unit and plug this one in.
🩺 My console switches off on its own, is it necessarily the power supply?
It's the most common cause, especially if the cable is bent or stripped near the casing. But a cut-out can also come from the power button or the motherboard: this unit only fixes the first case.
