eXtremeRate full shell for DS Lite: a console reclothed from the hinge to the buttons
A DS Lite that has seen some use often means a cracked hinge, a scratched shell, a marked screen lens and sticky buttons. This eXtremeRate kit replaces the entire outer shell: top, bottom, lens, battery cover and complete button set. Your console's electronics, on the other hand, are transferred as they are.
What it does
- Complete shell: top and bottom shells, battery cover and top screen lens.
- All the buttons: D-pad, A/B/X/Y, Start/Select, L and R, power and volume buttons, plus the conductive membrane.
- Screws and tools: replacement screws, two screwdrivers and an opening tool are included in the kit.
- Six colours to choose from, from classic light grey to red.
What it doesn't do
- It is not a console: no screens, motherboard, battery or speakers are supplied. Everything is taken from your DS Lite.
- It does not repair a faulty screen, a cut ribbon cable or a button that no longer responds because of the motherboard.
- It only fits the DS Lite: not the first-generation DS, the DSi or the 3DS.
- It does not change the screens: scratches or dead pixels on the original LCDs remain visible under the new lens.
Compatibility
Nintendo DS Lite only (model USG-001), all regions. The kit does not fit the original DS, the DSi, the DSi XL or any 3DS: their shapes and mounting points are different.
Skill level required
Full disassembly, no soldering. You need to remove the motherboard, take out both screens, then route the top screen ribbon cables back through the hinge of the new shell: this is the delicate step, to be done without forcing. Tri-wing and Phillips screwdrivers supplied. Intermediate level: allow one to two hours for a first time.

The job: reclothing a tired DS Lite
A second-hand DS Lite rarely arrives intact: cracked hinge, scratched shell, marked lens, buttons that catch. You open the console, take out the motherboard and both screens, route the ribbon cables back through the new hinge and screw everything back together. No. Everything is done with a screwdriver: you disassemble the console, transfer the motherboard, the screens and the battery, then reassemble it in the new shell.
🎮 Is it compatible with my DS, DSi or 3DS?
No. This kit is designed for the DS Lite only. The original DS, the DSi, the DSi XL and the 3DS have different shells.
📺 Are the screens supplied?
No. Only the protective lens for the top screen is supplied. Both LCD screens are taken from your console.
