What it protects
Two layers, two jobs. The semi-rigid EVA shell spreads the pressure: the Retroid Pocket 5 doesn't take the weight of whatever gets piled on top of it. The microfiber lining deals with the scratches. That's the point that matters on this console, whose AMOLED screen covers almost the entire front and stays bare as soon as it travels without a case.
In everyday use
The case opens with a zip that runs all the way around. The console lies flat, screen against the lining. Accessories go into the zipped pocket in the flap: a USB-C cable, a small charger, one or two microSD cards. The pocket closes, so nothing rubs against the console on the way. The strap is there to carry it by hand.
What it doesn't do
It is only stated for the Retroid Pocket 5. The other Retroid models, including the Pocket 4 Pro and the Pocket Mini, don't share the same footprint and aren't covered. The console cannot be charged inside it. The shell is semi-rigid: it softens the knocks of transport, it guarantees nothing in a fall. Finally, the supplier gives neither dimensions nor weight.
