Description complète
12 V DC connectors: a power input that holds up in a retro project
On a bartop cabinet, an emulation box or a home-made power enclosure, the weak point is almost always the input socket: a jack dangling from two wires eventually rips off its solder joints. This set of 5 pairs gives you a panel-mount female socket, locked in place by its nut, plus the matching male plug to wire up.
What it does
- Nut mounting: the female socket goes through a drilled panel and is tightened from behind — the plugging force is taken by the enclosure, not by the solder joints.
- Set of 5 pairs: enough to fit out several builds and keep spares on hand, rather than reordering one at a time.
- Free wiring: solder tabs at both ends, wire gauge of your choice, polarity decided during assembly.
What it doesn't do
- It is not a power supply: no transformer, no mains cable and no power adapter in the box.
- It is not an original jack to re-solder onto a console's board: this model is panel-mounted, not through-hole mounted on a printed circuit board.
- The supplier does not state the exact barrel diameter, the rated current or the recommended wire gauge. Measure your machine's socket before ordering.
- Low voltage only: below 50 V AC or 75 V DC. No use on mains power.
Compatibility
Generic DC connector part, designed for low-voltage builds from 5 to 30 V: arcade cabinet, emulation box, power for a retro-project screen, test bench. It is not a spare part listed for a specific console — period power supplies often use an unusual barrel diameter, sometimes with reversed polarity. Check with callipers and a multimeter before wiring.
Skill level required
Straightforward assembly, but soldering is required: iron, solder, heat-shrink tubing. You also need to drill the panel to the socket's diameter and check the polarity with a multimeter before powering on for the first time. Allow about ten minutes per pair once the drilling is done.
In the box
- 5 panel-mount female sockets, with their locking nut
- 5 male plugs to wire

The fix: a socket that no longer rips out
On a home-made build, the power input almost always gives out before anything else. The jack dangles from two wires, you pull on it when unplugging, and the solder joint eventually comes loose. A panel-mount socket fixes exactly this point: it goes through the enclosure wall and is locked by a nut, so the pulling force goes into the wood or plastic, not into the wire.
The part: generic connectors, and upfront about it
This set is not a spare part listed for a console: it is low-voltage DC connectors, the kind you find in an arcade cabinet, an emulation box or a test bench. You buy it to wire yourself, with your own wire gauge and your own polarity. The supplier does not specify the barrel diameter or the rated current, and we will not make them up.
Before ordering: two measurements to take
Two checks will save you a return. First, with callipers, measure the diameter of the socket on your machine or on the power supply you plan to connect. Then, with a multimeter, check the polarity: centre positive or centre negative makes all the difference on older hardware. Listing verified on 19 August 2026. A question about the assembly? Frequently Asked Questions
🔧 Do I need to solder to install these connectors?
Yes. Both parts connect via solder tabs: a soldering iron, solder and heat-shrink tubing are required. No fine component soldering, just wire soldering that a careful beginner can manage.
🎮 Is it compatible with my retro console?
It is not a spare part listed for a specific machine. These are generic connectors for low-voltage builds from 5 to 30 V: arcade cabinet, emulation box, screen power supply. Measure your socket's diameter before ordering.
✂️ Do I need to drill the enclosure?
Yes for the female part: it is panel-mounted and locked with its nut, so you need a hole at the right diameter. The male plug is simply wired onto the end of the cable.
📦 What's in the box?
5 panel-mount female sockets with their locking nut, and 5 male plugs to wire. No cable, no transformer, no power adapter.
🧰 What tools do I need?
A soldering iron, solder, wire strippers, heat-shrink tubing, a drill with a bit matching the socket's diameter, and a multimeter to check the polarity.
⚡ What voltage and current can they handle?
Low-voltage use only, below 50 V AC or 75 V DC, typically 5 to 30 V DC. The supplier does not provide a maximum current: stick to modest loads and oversize your wire gauge.
🚚 What are the delivery times?
Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.
🛡️ Which guarantee applies?
2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns.
