Game Gear membranes: buttons that respond to every press
Over time, the conductive membranes of a Game Gear harden and their contact pads wear out: you have to press hard, or the D-pad stops responding in one direction. This set of silicone membranes replaces the one for the D-pad and those for the 1, 2 and Start buttons. Nine colours, to match with translucent buttons.
What it does
- A complete set: 1 D-pad membrane and 3 button membranes.
- New contact pads: contact is made again with a normal press.
- Nine colours: black, white, grey, red, yellow, blue, multicolour, translucent black and translucent white.
What it does not do
- It does not clean the board contacts: if they are oxidised, wipe them with isopropyl alcohol before fitting.
- It does not replace the buttons themselves.
- One colour per set; no tools included.
Compatibility
European, American and Japanese Game Gear, with the original buttons or replacement buttons in the original format.
Skill level
Beginner: opening the shell with a Phillips screwdriver, removing the old membranes, fitting the new ones on their pegs. No soldering.
