Description complète
BlueRetro Neo Geo adapter: play with a current Bluetooth controller
Original Neo Geo controllers wear out, their cables break and the buttons tire. This BlueRetro adapter made by RetroScaler plugs into the Neo Geo DB15 controller port and accepts a current Bluetooth controller. The firmware is open source and updates wirelessly, from a web browser.
What it does
- Recent Bluetooth controllers: supports PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One S and Series X|S, Wiimote, Wii U Pro, Switch Pro, Joy-Con, 8BitDo and Retro-Bit controllers over Bluetooth.
- Direct connection: it plugs into the Neo Geo DB15 controller port like an original controller, without opening the console.
- Open-source BlueRetro firmware: the BlueRetro project runs on an ESP32 chip; button remapping and updates are done from a web page, with no cable.
- No console modification: nothing to open or solder, and the adapter comes out as easily as it goes in.
What it doesn't do
- It does not support wireless controllers with a 2.4 GHz USB dongle, nor the wireless Xbox 360 controller: they do not use Bluetooth.
- The configuration page requires a Web Bluetooth-compatible browser (Chrome or Edge on a computer, Chrome on Android): Safari, Firefox, iPhone and iPad cannot open it.
- A wireless link adds a delay, however small, compared with a wired controller: in games with very tight timing, an attentive player may notice it.
- An MVS board without a DB15 controller port, connected only via JAMMA, cannot accept it.
- The controller is not included.
Compatibility
Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD and CDZ, and MVS systems fitted with a DB15 controller port. An MVS board wired only via JAMMA, with no DB15 port, is not covered.
Skill level required
No soldering, no disassembly. Plug the adapter into the Neo Geo DB15 controller port, put the controller into pairing mode, then play. Button remapping and firmware updates go through a Web Bluetooth-compatible browser. Beginner level.

The job: plug in, pair, play
Plug the adapter into the Neo Geo DB15 controller port, press the controller's pairing button, and the Neo Geo responds to a present-day Bluetooth controller. No screws, no soldering iron: the console stays original and the adapter can be removed at any time.
The part: BlueRetro, an open firmware
BlueRetro is an open-source project that runs on an ESP32 chip. RetroScaler assembles this version for the Neo Geo, ready to plug in. The firmware evolves regularly: updates and button remapping are done wirelessly, from a web page.

No. The adapter plugs into the Neo Geo DB15 controller port and can be removed without leaving a trace.
🎮 Which controllers work?
PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One S and Series X|S, Wiimote, Wii U Pro, Switch Pro, Joy-Con, 8BitDo and Retro-Bit controllers over Bluetooth.
🕹️ How many controllers can I connect?
One adapter corresponds to one controller port, and therefore to one controller. For a second player, you need a second adapter.
