BitFunx PSone shell: a new case for the compact PS1
The PSone, the compact, rounded version of the first PlayStation, often has a scratched or yellowed shell. This BitFunx replacement shell reproduces its case in five colours, four of them translucent, to replace a damaged shell or show off the inside of the console.
What it does
- New case: replaces the original shell of the PSone.
- Five colours: clear, translucent green, purple and black, or grey.
- Translucent finish: four colours show the motherboard and the drive.
What it doesn't do
- It is not suitable for the original PlayStation, with its rectangular grey case.
- Shell only: no motherboard, no drive, no LCD screen.
- It does not repair a console that no longer reads discs or no longer boots.
- Transferring the components requires a full disassembly.
Compatibility
PSone, all revisions. Not covered: the original PlayStation (rectangular grey case, models SCPH-1000 to SCPH-900x), the PSone LCD screen and other consoles.

No soldering. You need to fully disassemble the console and transfer the motherboard, the drive and the internal parts into the new shell. Have a precision Phillips screwdriver and a plastic spudger ready, and discharge static electricity before touching the motherboard. Intermediate level.

The job: re-dressing a PSone
The PSone is compact, but its plastic has aged like the others. You open it, transfer the motherboard and the drive into the new shell and close it up. The console keeps working the same way and gets a new look: clear, coloured, or simply grey and clean.
The part: five BitFunx colours
BitFunx reproduces the PSone case in five colours: clear, translucent green, purple and black, and grey. The translucent versions show the electronics. Note that this shell is made for the PSone only: the original PlayStation has a different case.
