BitFunx PS2 Slim shell: a new translucent case for your console
A twenty-year-old PS2 Slim often has scratches, cracks around the screws or marked plastic. This BitFunx translucent replacement shell replaces the original case and shows the motherboard. It comes in two versions, for the PS2 Slim SCPH-7xxxx and the SCPH-9xxxx, and in two tints: translucent black or purple.
What it does
- Two moulding versions: one shell for the SCPH-7xxxx series, another for the SCPH-9xxxx series.
- Translucent finish: black or purple, it shows the motherboard and the drive.
- A fresh look: replaces a scratched, cracked or marked case without touching the electronics.
What it doesn't do
- No electronics: no motherboard, no drive, no power supply. The shell houses your console's components.
- It does not repair a faulty console: a PS2 that no longer reads discs or no longer boots will stay that way.
- An SCPH-7xxxx version does not fit an SCPH-9xxxx, and vice versa: choose the variant that matches the model number printed underneath your console.
- It is not suitable for PS2 Fat consoles (SCPH-1xxxx to 5xxxx).
Compatibility
SCPH-7xxxx version: models SCPH-70011, SCPH-75001 and SCPH-77001. SCPH-9xxxx version: SCPH-9xxxx series. Not covered: PS2 Fat (SCPH-1xxxx to 5xxxx), PS2 TV and the other models in the 7xxxx series (70004, 79001…): for these, write to us before ordering. The model number is on the label underneath the console.
Skill level required
No soldering. You need to fully disassemble the console, transfer the motherboard, the drive and the internal parts into the new shell, then reassemble. Have a precision Phillips screwdriver, a plastic spudger and a clear work surface ready; discharge static electricity before touching the motherboard. Intermediate level.

The job: making a PS2 Slim presentable again
A PS2 Slim that still works deserves better than a case that is scratched or cracked around the screws. You open the console, take out the motherboard and the drive, install them in the new shell and screw it back together. The machine is the same, but it is on show: through the translucent plastic, you can see the board and the drive.
The part: one moulding per console series
The PS2 Slim does not have a single case design: the SCPH-7xxxx and SCPH-9xxxx series differ. BitFunx therefore offers two distinct mouldings, each in translucent black or purple. It is the model number printed underneath your console that determines the variant, not the colour: check it before ordering.
