Resin keycap: one key that stands apart on a mass-produced keyboard
A mechanical keyboard can be customised key by key. This hand-cast resin keycap fits any switch with a cross-shaped MX stem and replaces an original keycap. SA profile, row R1: tall, with a dished spherical top, you can find it by touch without taking your eyes off the screen.
What it does
- Fitting without disassembly tools: standard MX cross stem, you remove the old keycap with a keycap puller and push this one on by hand.
- Hand-cast resin: the material is coloured throughout, and each piece keeps its own variations.
- SA profile, row R1: tall keycap with a dished spherical top, thicker and more enveloping than a flat original keycap.
What it doesn't do
- It is sold individually: this is not a full keycap set, it replaces a single key.
- It carries no legend — no letter, number or symbol. Best kept for a key you can find without reading it.
- It does not fit membrane keyboards, scissor-switch (laptop) keyboards, or low-profile, Topre or Alps switches: these mounts have no MX cross stem.
- The resin is not designed to diffuse backlighting: don't count on it to let the switch LED shine through.
- Because it is hand-cast, it may show slight variations in shade, bubbles or finish from one piece to the next. This is not a manufacturing defect.
Compatibility
Compatible with mechanical keyboards with an MX cross stem: Cherry MX and switches built to the same standard (Gateron, Kailh, Outemu, TTC, JWK).
