Description complète
8BitDo Ultimate 2: TMR sticks and triggers whose behaviour you change
The Ultimate 2 is the 8BitDo controller designed for the PC. It replaces conventional potentiometers with TMR sticks that make no mechanical contact, adds Hall effect triggers switchable between analogue travel and a sharp click, and communicates over 2.4 GHz at 1000 Hz. Its charging dock stays on the desk, the controller rests on it and reconnects on its own.
What it does
- TMR sticks: frictionless magnetic sensing, 12-bit sampling, wear-resistant rings.
- Switchable triggers: linear Hall effect to modulate acceleration, or a tactile switch for a clean trigger pull in shooters.
- 1000 Hz polling over 2.4 GHz as well as wired, with latency stated by the manufacturer as low as 1 ms under laboratory conditions.
- Six extra buttons: 2 back paddles, 2 fast remappable L4 and R4 bumpers, and a recalibrated D-pad with tactile switches.
- Customisable 6-axis gyroscope, active in 2.4 GHz mode.
- Charging dock supplied, and Ultimate Software V2 for mapping, macros, RGB and updates.
What it doesn't do
- It is not stated for the Switch. The manufacturer lists Windows, Android, SteamOS and Apple devices. If you are looking for a controller for Switch or Switch 2, this is not the model.
- The 6-axis gyroscope only works in 2.4 GHz mode, not over Bluetooth.
- The manufacturer does not state the battery capacity or the battery life. We would rather leave the field empty than put forward a figure.
- It does not plug into an original retro console: the 2.4 GHz adapter is a USB dongle, and a 1990s machine has no USB port.
- Supplied without games, in compliance with the law.
Compatibility
Stated by the manufacturer for Windows 10 (1903) and above, Android 13 and above, SteamOS 3.7.13 and above — so Steam Deck — as well as iOS 26, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS and visionOS 26 and above. The 2.4 GHz and wired modes are for Windows, Bluetooth for Android and Apple devices. The Switch and Switch 2 are not covered.
Getting started
No disassembly, no soldering. On a PC, plug the 2.4 GHz adapter into a USB port and the controller is recognised straight away. On Android and Apple, use the system's Bluetooth pairing. Stick, trigger and macro settings are handled in Ultimate Software V2, on PC or mobile.

The stick that doesn't drift because nothing touches
Stick drift comes from wear: a potentiometer rubs, its track wears a groove, and the controller ends up moving on its own. TMR sticks read a magnetic field, with no mechanical contact between the parts. Nothing wears, so nothing drifts. The 12-bit sampling also gives finer travel in small movements.
Two triggers, two behaviours to choose from
A racing game calls for an analogue trigger you can meter to the millimetre. A shooter calls for the opposite: a clean click, as early in the travel as possible. The Ultimate 2 does not decide for you, it switches between linear Hall effect and tactile switch. The same pad serves both uses, with no compromise.
A PC controller, not a Switch controller
This is the most common mix-up in the Ultimate range, and it costs a return. The manufacturer states this model for Windows, Android, SteamOS and Apple devices. Neither the Switch nor the Switch 2 is on the list. If your machine is a Switch, another model in the range is the one to look at — better to know before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
🎮 Does it work on Nintendo Switch?
No. The manufacturer states Windows, Android, SteamOS and Apple devices. The Switch and Switch 2 are not in this model's compatibility list.
🕹️ What do TMR sticks add over Hall effect?
Both are contactless magnetic technologies, so neither wears a track down. TMR draws less power and delivers a more precise signal at low amplitude. In both cases, the stick drift problem disappears.
🔫 How do you change the trigger behaviour?
With a switch on the controller: linear Hall effect for progressive travel, or a tactile switch for a clean click. The travel ranges are then set in Ultimate Software V2.
📡 What is the difference between 2.4 GHz mode and Bluetooth?
2.4 GHz goes through the supplied USB adapter: 1000 Hz polling and an active gyroscope, on Windows. Bluetooth is for Android and Apple devices, without the gyroscope.
🔋 What is the battery life?
The manufacturer states neither the battery capacity nor the battery life for this model. We would rather not put forward a figure. The supplied charging dock lets you set the controller down between sessions.
📦 What is in the box?
1 Ultimate 2 controller, 1 charging dock, 1 2.4 GHz wireless adapter, 1 USB cable and 1 manufacturer's manual.
🚚 What are the delivery times?
Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.
🛡️ What guarantee applies?
2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns.
Why buy here rather than on a marketplace
It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.
Every listing is checked before publication: platforms actually supported, stick technology, connectivity, what the controller does not do. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
A question, a pairing problem, a return: you write, a human replies within 1 business day. In French.
The 2-year legal warranty of conformity is handled by us — not by a form on the other side of the world. And 14 days to change your mind, with no need to justify yourself.
We do not claim to be the cheapest. We claim that you will know exactly what you are buying before you pay.
