Description complète
8BitDo 64: the three-handle controller, with a stick that no longer wears out
The original 64 controller had a flaw familiar to anyone who played it hard: its stick fell apart. 8BitDo keeps the three-handle shape, the octagonal gate and the concave rubber cap, and replaces the mechanism with a Hall effect stick with a wear-resistant metal ring. Connection via Bluetooth 5.0 or USB.
What it does
- Hall effect stick mounted in the original gate, with the concave rubber cap and a wear-resistant metal ring.
- The original L, R and Z buttons stay in their place, including the Z trigger under the centre handle.
- Analogue 3D, Switch and Switch 2 supported, as well as Windows 10 (1903) and Android 9.0 and later.
- Bluetooth 5.0 with Bluetooth LE support, or wired USB connection.
- 225 g and 140.8 × 104 × 60.5 mm: the size of the original controller.
What it doesn't do
- Vibration doesn't work everywhere. The manufacturer states it on Analogue 3D and in the 64 app of the Switch and Switch 2 online service. On PC or Android, don't count on it.
- It doesn't connect to an original 64 console. The 90s machine has no Bluetooth, and we don't offer a receiver for that console. To play wirelessly on an original 64 console, have a look at the Hyperkin Admiral instead, supplied with its adapter.
- The manufacturer discloses neither the battery capacity nor the battery life. We leave the field empty rather than put forward a figure.
- A single stick: that's the original layout, not a modern twin-stick controller.
- No 2.4 GHz wireless mode, no back button, no programmable paddle.
- Supplied without games, in compliance with the law.
Compatibility
Stated by the manufacturer for Analogue 3D, Switch (3.0.0 and later), Switch 2 (20.1.1 and later), Windows 10 (1903) and later, and Android 9.0 and later. Not compatible with an original 64 console: we don't offer a receiver to plug it into the controller port.
Getting started
No disassembly, no soldering. Pairing is done with the button combination specific to each platform, given in the manufacturer's manual. On PC, the controller is recognised as a standard game device. Firmware updates go through the USB cable.

The stick that wrecked controllers back in 1996
Anyone who played back then knows the scene: the stick goes loose, white dust builds up in the gate, and the controller ends up unusable. The original mechanism was mechanical and relied on friction. 8BitDo keeps the gate, the concave cap and the travel, and puts a Hall effect sensor underneath: nothing touches, nothing wears out.
Three handles, and the Z trigger right where it belongs
The 64 controller had ergonomics all its own: three handles, a Z trigger under the middle one, and a very particular way of holding the whole thing. Reproducing it faithfully matters more than modernising it. 8BitDo keeps the complete layout, L, R and Z included, at 225 g and in the same size as the original.
Where vibration works, and where it doesn't
The manufacturer is precise on this point and we repeat it as is: vibration is stated on Analogue 3D and in the 64 app of the Switch and Switch 2 online service. On a PC or on Android, it isn't guaranteed. If force feedback is decisive for you, it's the first thing to check.

Frequently Asked Questions
🎮 Does it work on an original 64 console?
No. The 90s console has no Bluetooth, and we don't offer a receiver to plug it into its controller port. To play wirelessly on an original 64 console, the Hyperkin Admiral comes with an adapter designed for that port.
🕹️ Is the stick really different from the original?
The gate, the concave rubber cap and the travel are taken from the original. The mechanism, however, is replaced by a Hall effect sensor with a metal ring: that's what avoids the well-known wear of the original model.
📳 Does vibration work everywhere?
No. The manufacturer states it on Analogue 3D and in the 64 app of the Switch and Switch 2 online service. On PC or Android, it isn't stated.
🖥️ Which platforms is it stated for?
Analogue 3D, Switch from firmware 3.0.0, Switch 2 from 20.1.1, Windows 10 (1903) and later, and Android 9.0 and later.
🔋 What is the battery life?
The manufacturer discloses neither the battery capacity nor the battery life for this model. We'd rather not put forward a figure.
📦 What's in the box?
1 8BitDo 64 controller, 1 USB cable and 1 manufacturer's manual. The “with case” variants add a carrying case.
🚚 What are the delivery times?
Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.
🛡️ Which guarantee applies?
2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns.
Why buy here rather than on a marketplace
It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.
Every listing is checked before publication: platforms actually supported, stick technology, connectivity, what the controller does not do. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
A question, a pairing problem, a return: you write, a human replies within 1 business day. In French.
The 2-year legal warranty of conformity is handled by us — not by a form on the other side of the world. And 14 days to change your mind, with no need to justify yourself.
We do not claim to be the cheapest. We claim that you will know exactly what you are buying before you pay.
