Everything you need to know before choosing your Evercade console

Evercade is a retro gaming system based on official physical cartridges. Each cartridge brings together several licensed games from the same publisher or series, with its own colour manual. According to Evercade, the library includes more than 80 cartridges and more than 700 games, and every cartridge works on all of its consoles.

Which Evercade console should you choose?

  • Evercade EXP-R: the handheld console. 4.3-inch 800 × 480 IPS screen, TATE mode for vertical arcade games, 3000 mAh battery (4 to 5 hours claimed). No built-in games and no TV output.
  • Evercade VS-R: the home console. 1080p HDMI output, two cartridge slots, four USB ports for up to four players, one controller included. HDMI cable and mains adapter not included.
  • Super Pocket: the handheld console from HyperMegaTech!, the brand from the creators of Evercade. 14 to 50 built-in games depending on the edition, 2.8-inch IPS screen, and an Evercade cartridge slot to go further.
  • Super Micro: HyperMegaTech!'s keychain console, with one to three built-in games and three AAA batteries. It doesn't play cartridges.

What Evercade doesn't do

  • The consoles only play Evercade cartridges: no cartridges from other consoles, no game memory cards, no downloaded files.
  • On the EXP-R and VS-R, nothing plays without a cartridge. The console-only versions come without games; bundles with a cartridge are available.
  • According to Evercade, the Super Pocket has neither quick save nor button remapping, unlike the other consoles in the range.

Do Evercade cartridges work on all Evercade consoles?
Yes, according to Evercade, every cartridge works on all of its consoles: EXP-R, VS-R and Super Pocket. Only the Super Micro, a keychain console, doesn't play any cartridges. On the Super Pocket, the manufacturer states that there is neither quick save nor button remapping.
Can you play Evercade on a TV?
Yes, with the VS-R, which connects over 1080p HDMI (HDMI cable not included). The EXP-R has no TV output: the mini HDMI output of the older EXP has been removed. The Super Pocket doesn't list one either.
Do you need to buy cartridges to play?
On the EXP-R and VS-R, yes: they have no built-in games. Bundles with a cartridge are available (Tomb Raider Collection 1 for the EXP-R, Activision Collection 1 for the VS-R). The Super Pocket comes with 14 to 50 games depending on the edition, so cartridges are an extra.
