USB-C cable: a modern charger instead of the original power brick

Original power bricks age badly: they run hot, hum or have gone missing over the years. This cable powers the console from a USB-C Power Delivery charger and connects through a 4.8 × 1.7 mm DC plug to the Mega Drive 2, the PS one and the PS2 Slim 70000 series.

What it does

• USB-C Power Delivery power: the cable draws power from a USB-C PD charger, rated at 45 W by the manufacturer.
• 4.8 × 1.7 mm DC plug: it plugs straight into the console's power socket.
• Three consoles: Mega Drive 2, PS one and PS2 Slim 70000 series.
• Less clutter: a single USB-C charger can serve the console, the phone and the computer.

What it doesn't do

• The USB-C Power Delivery charger is not included: you will need a model of at least 45 W.
• A standard USB charger without Power Delivery is not enough: the console will not switch on.
• It is not suitable for consoles with an internal power supply connected to a mains cord: original PS1, PS2 Fat, PS2 Slim 90000 series.
• It is not suitable for the Mega Drive 1, which has a different socket: see our dedicated USB-C 9 V cable.
• It is not a controller charging cable.

Compatibility

Mega Drive 2, PS one (the compact model of the PS1) and PS2 Slim 70000 series. Other PS2 Slim series are not covered by this product. Before ordering, check that your console carries one of these model numbers.

Skill level

None: the cable replaces the original brick, without opening the console. Plug the DC plug into the console and the USB-C end into the charger. Beginner level.
