USB-C power supply for PS2 Fat: the console powered from a USB-C charger
On a PS2 Fat, the power supply is a unit housed inside the console and connected to the mains. This Auroxin module replaces it on 50000 series consoles (SCPH-50000 and SCPH-55000): the console is then powered by a 45 W USB-C Power Delivery charger, at 15 V / 3 A.
What it does
- Replaces the original power supply of the PS2 Fat 50000 series, in its intended slot.
- USB-C Power Delivery input: the console plugs into a USB-C charger that supplies 15 V at 3 A.
- No more mains cord: a 45 W USB-C charger, like a laptop charger, is all you need.
- Japanese or US console without a transformer: with a 100-240 V charger, the mains voltage no longer matters.
What it doesn't do
- The USB-C charger and USB-C cable are not included.
- A charger under 45 W, or without a 15 V Power Delivery profile, won't work.
- It doesn't fit other PS2 Fat models (30000, 39000 and earlier series) or PS2 Slim: 50000 series only (SCPH-50000 and SCPH-55000).
- It doesn't fix a fault located elsewhere than in the power supply (motherboard, DVD drive).
Compatibility
PS2 Fat 50000 series: SCPH-50000 and SCPH-55000, whatever the region (the exact model number is on the underside of the console, for example SCPH-50004 in Europe). Not compatible with earlier PS2 Fat series or with PS2 Slim.
Skill level
You need to open the PS2, disconnect and remove the original power supply unit, then install the module in its place. Work with the console unplugged from the mains. Have a Phillips screwdriver at hand. Intermediate level.

The idea: replace a worn-out power supply
On a PS2 Fat, the power supply sits inside the console and is connected to the mains; over the years, it's often the part that fails. Open the console, remove the original unit and install the module in its place. The PS2 then plugs into a USB-C charger, just like a laptop.
