Auroxin USB-C 9 V cable: the US Super Nintendo without its transformer
The original transformer of the US Super Nintendo is bulky and designed for the US mains supply. This Auroxin cable draws 9 V from a USB-C Power Delivery charger and delivers it to the console through a 6.9 × 4.1 mm jack, the one used by the SNS-001 and SNS-101 models.
What it does
- 9 V power: negotiated with a USB-C Power Delivery charger.
- 6.9 × 4.1 mm jack: the power socket of the US Super Nintendo.
- Two revisions covered: the original SNS-001 and the SNS-101, known as the “New-Style”.
What it doesn't do
- It is not suitable for the European Super Nintendo (PAL), which has a different socket and power supply.
- It is not suitable for the Japanese Super Famicom: it uses a 5.5 × 2.1 mm jack, see our dedicated cable.
- The USB-C Power Delivery charger is not supplied: it must be able to deliver 9 V.
- A standard USB charger without Power Delivery will not supply 9 V: the console will not switch on.
Compatibility
US Super Nintendo, SNS-001 and SNS-101 models. Not suitable for the European Super Nintendo or the Super Famicom. The model number is printed under the console.
Skill level required
None: the cable replaces the original transformer, without opening the console. Plug the jack into the back of the console and the USB-C into the charger. Beginner level.

The move: putting the US transformer away
Imported from the United States, the Super Nintendo often comes with a transformer designed for 110 V, or with nothing at all. This cable settles the matter: the console plugs into a USB-C Power Delivery charger, the one you already use for a laptop or a phone, provided it delivers 9 V.
The part: the right jack for the right revision
Auroxin designed this cable for the 6.9 × 4.1 mm socket of US Super Nintendo consoles, the original SNS-001 as well as the SNS-101. The cable requests 9 V from the charger and passes it on to the console. For the Super Famicom or the Mega Drive 1, it is a different jack and a different cable.
The support: check before plugging in
Getting the model wrong is costly: the European Super Nintendo does not use this socket. Check the number under the console before ordering. If in doubt, send us a photo of the label: our customer service replies within one business day.
