What it's really for
This is the controller in this range that goes furthest on customization. The D-pad and the left stick are removable modules: you can move from a PlayStation layout, sticks side by side, to a layout where the left stick takes the top position, closer to the Xbox habit. The stated 1000 mAh battery is the largest of our retro controllers. The manufacturer also states a clickable touchpad, a gyroscope, vibration and a Turbo function.
How you actually connect it
The box contains the controller, a USB cable and an adapter that the manufacturer doesn't describe. On PS4, you plug in the USB cable, press the central button and the console pairs the controller. On PC, Steam remains the simplest route, as it recognises the PlayStation layout. On Android and iOS, pairing goes through the phone's Bluetooth menu. The interchangeable modules come off by hand: no tool is needed.
What it isn't
This is not a Sony DualShock 4: it's an unbranded third-party controller, and the listing doesn't say whether it is licensed. It is not a PS5 controller: on PlayStation 5 it can only launch a backward-compatible PS4 game. It is not a DualSense: classic vibration, no HD haptic feedback and no adaptive triggers. It is not a pro controller with Hall Effect sticks or rear paddles: the interchangeable modules cover the D-pad and the left stick, not the sensor technology. And the Turbo function has no place in a competitive online game.

What can you actually change on this controller?
The D-pad and the left stick are removable modules that you swap by hand. That lets you choose between the PlayStation layout and a layout where the left stick sits in the top position. The rest of the controller is not modular.
Does it work on PS5?
Not for PS5 games. A PS4-type controller is only accepted on PlayStation 5 in backward-compatible PS4 games. That's a rule of the console, and it applies to the official DualShock 4 too.
How long does the battery last?
The manufacturer states a capacity of 1000 mAh but no duration in hours. We'd rather not put forward a figure the manufacturer doesn't give. For reference, that's more than double the capacity stated on our ergonomic PS3 controller.
What is the supplied adapter for?
The manufacturer lists it in the box contents but doesn't describe it: neither what it is, nor which platforms it covers. So we can't tell you what it's for, and we won't assume.
Can the Turbo function be used everywhere?
No. Turbo automatically repeats a press for as long as the button is held. That's comfortable in solo play, on a shooter or an arcade game. However, many competitive online games ban it and can detect it.
Is the carrying case included?
Only if you choose a variant with a case. Those are separate references, priced higher than the controller on its own.
