What it's really for
This is the do-everything controller of a retro setup. It targets the PlayStation 3 first, but the manufacturer also states Switch, PC, Android and Raspberry Pi, which makes it a candidate for a machine running RetroPie or Batocera. Classic DualShock shape: two sticks, D-pad, four action buttons, four triggers, dual vibration. Built-in 600 mAh battery, so no batteries to buy.
How you actually connect it
First, a full charge with the supplied USB cable. Then, two paths. On PS3 and on devices that handle Bluetooth, you pair the controller directly from the console or system menu. On the others, you plug in the supplied 2,4 GHz receiver and pairing happens on its own. The manufacturer doesn't say which mode it recommends for which platform: if one doesn't work, try the other before drawing conclusions.
What it isn't
This is not a Sony DualShock 3 nor a Nintendo Pro controller: it's an unbranded third-party controller. It is not an XInput controller: on PC, a PS3-type controller is generally seen as DirectInput, and some recent games won't detect it without going through Steam or a remapping utility. How long does it last while gaming?
The manufacturer doesn't state it. It lists a 600 mAh battery, a 2-hour charge and up to 50 days on standby. Standby is not gaming: that figure doesn't allow you to deduce battery life in a session, and we won't invent one.
Is it recognised by every PC game?
No. A PS3-type controller is most often seen by Windows as DirectInput, whereas the majority of recent games expect XInput. In practice, it works well in emulators and through Steam, but some games outside Steam won't see it without third-party remapping software.
Bluetooth or 2,4 GHz receiver: which one should you use?
The manufacturer's listing states both and includes the receiver, but doesn't say which mode matches which platform. In practice: try Bluetooth on PS3, Switch, Android and Raspberry Pi, and the 2,4 GHz receiver on a PC or a device without Bluetooth.
Does it really work on Nintendo Switch?
