8BitDo Ultimate 2C: Hall effect without the price of a high-end controller
The Ultimate 2C is the stripped-back version of the Ultimate range, and it keeps what matters: Hall effect sticks and triggers, so no wear and no drift, a 2.4 GHz link at 1000 Hz and battery life stated at up to 32 hours. This is the controller to keep next to an emulation PC or a Steam Deck.
What it does
- Hall effect sticks: contactless magnetic sensing, stick drift does not set in over time.
- Linear Hall effect triggers: progressive travel, useful in racing as much as in simulation.
- 1000 Hz polling over 2.4 GHz and wired.
- 480 mAh: 19 hours claimed over 2.4 GHz, 32 hours over Bluetooth.
- Two extra bumpers, L4 and R4, remappable directly on the controller without going through software.
- 6-axis gyroscope, vibration, and Ultimate Software support to go further.
What it doesn't do
- It is not stated for the Switch. This model is the wireless PC / Android version. There is a separate Ultimate 2C Bluetooth for the Switch, and this is not it.
- No back paddles: the only extra buttons are the L4 and R4 bumpers.

Compatibility

Getting started
No disassembly, no soldering. Plug the 2.4 GHz adapter into a USB port and the controller is recognised as a standard gaming device. Basic remapping is done on the controller itself; Ultimate Software is there for fine-tuning and firmware updates.

Hall effect brought down to the mid-range
For years, magnetic sticks were reserved for the most expensive controllers, while entry-level pads kept drifting after six months. The Ultimate 2C puts Hall effect sticks and triggers on a mid-range controller. You lose the back paddles and the charging dock, you keep what determines how long it lasts.
Two connections, two battery figures
The 2.4 GHz mode polls the controller a thousand times a second and lasts 19 hours: that is the one to keep on a gaming PC. Bluetooth lowers the polling rate but raises battery life to 32 hours, which suits an evening of emulation on Android better. You pick with a switch, with nothing to reinstall.
Two Ultimate 2C models exist — take the right one
8BitDo sells an Ultimate 2C wireless for PC and Android, and an Ultimate 2C Bluetooth for the Switch. They look alike, but they do not cover the same machines. The one on this page is the wireless PC and Android version: it comes with its 2.4 GHz adapter, and the Switch is not in its compatibility.
