Hall effect for around thirty euros
This is the controller's main selling point. Both sticks and both triggers read a magnetic field: no part rubs against another, so nothing wears out and drift never appears. At this price point, most controllers still use resistive-track potentiometers, which start drifting after a few hundred hours.
The 1,000 Hz are cable-only
ANBERNIC publishes three separate figures for the polling rate: 1,000 Hz wired, 200 Hz with the 2.4 GHz dongle and 180 Hz over Bluetooth 5.3. In other words, wireless mode sits at the level of an ordinary controller. The difference is invisible in a platformer or a role-playing game; you feel it in a twitchy shooter.
What it is not
Despite its Xbox-style button layout, it does not work on Xbox, nor on PlayStation. It has no 3.5 mm headphone jack, no PC software and only two macro buttons on the back, which several users find poorly placed. This is not a competition controller, but an entry-level Hall effect controller.

Why this controller is in our catalogue
We check every controller before listing it. Many never make it in.
Every controller is checked before it enters the catalogue: the platforms it really works on, the technology of its sticks, what it does not do. Many models never make it in, because they do not live up to what they announce. What this one can do, and where it stops, is detailed further down this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work on Xbox or on PlayStation?
No. The button layout is Xbox-style, but ANBERNIC only lists PC, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS. Xbox and PlayStation consoles are not supported.
Does the 1,000 Hz work wirelessly?
No. ANBERNIC states 1,000 Hz wired, 200 Hz with the 2.4 GHz dongle and 180 Hz over Bluetooth 5.3.
Are the triggers Hall effect as well?
Yes. ANBERNIC states Hall effect on both sticks and both triggers. The D-pad and action buttons, however, use conventional conductive rubber.
How many programmable buttons?
Two macro buttons on the back, plus a dedicated button for the turbo setting. Several users report that the two rear buttons are either hard to reach or pressed by accident.
What battery life?
600 mAh lithium-polymer battery, stated at 9 hours of play, with a full charge in 2 hr 30. Vibration and the RGB ring cut that figure down.
Is there any configuration software?
No PC software is supplied. Lighting modes, vibration intensity and macros are set directly on the controller.
