Cypher, the watcher: white, charcoal and cyan tripwires
Cypher doesn't win duels, he wins information. Tripwires, a camera in the right corner, a smoke cage: he's the agent of patient players, the ones who hold a flank without ever having to force it. His silhouette is unmistakable — pale hat, faceless mask, dark coat — and the set picks up that contrast: white blocks, deep charcoal and cyan lines that call to mind cables strung across a corridor. The palette is cold and high in contrast. On a black keyboard, the light keycaps stand out like markers dropped on the map; on a white chassis it's the dark areas and the cyan that draw the gaming cluster instead.
A light palette: what PBT and dye-sublimation change
On a set that leans this heavily on white, the real question is wear. Stock keycaps are ABS, a soft plastic that polishes under your fingers: W, A, S, D and the space bar shine first, and that shine shows up all the more on a light colour. PBT is harder and grainier, and it keeps its matte surface far longer. The artwork is dye-sublimated: the ink turns to gas and diffuses into the plastic instead of sitting on top, so it can't chip and won't rub away. OEM profile, MX cross-stem required, clip-in MX stabilisers for the space bar. The manufacturer states 14 keys in five sizes, at ANSI layout widths.
Cypher on fourteen keys: what this set doesn't do
The cyan on this set looks like backlighting: it isn't. Dye-sublimated legends are dyed through the plastic and let no LED light through; the lighting stays visible around the keys, never through them. It's not a keyboard either, nor a full keycap set: fourteen keycaps on a board with more than a hundred, and the rest keeps its stock keys, whose colour and texture won't match. Compatibility isn't universal: an MX cross-stem is required, so no membrane, no low-profile, no laptop keyboard, and the space bar won't mount on Costar stabilisers. It is not a licensed product: fan art inspired by the Valorant universe, made by a third-party manufacturer. Keycap puller not included.

They fit mechanical keyboards with an MX cross-stem — Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu and most clones. They don't suit membrane keyboards, low-profile keyboards or laptop keyboards. The space bar needs clip-in MX stabilisers; Costar types are ruled out. Simplest test: pull one keycap off and look at the stem.
What exactly is in the Cypher set?
The manufacturer states 14 keys across five sizes — 1U, Caps Lock 1.75U, Backspace 2U, Enter 2.25U, space bar 6.25U — which are ANSI layout widths. It does not publish the list of legends printed on those fourteen keys: the product photos remain the only source for the exact contents.
Does this set look better on a black or a white keyboard?
Both work, just differently. On a black keyboard, Cypher's light keycaps form a highly visible island around the WASD cluster. On a white keyboard, it's the charcoal blocks and cyan lines that draw the design, for a far more blended result.
Do the legends stay readable mid-match?
Yes, because contrast works in their favour: the set sets white against charcoal, and the characters never sit on a background of the same value. The cyan is an accent, not a legend background. That same contrast does show every fingerprint on the light keys, though: an occasional wipe with a dry cloth is enough.
Do I need a keycap puller to fit the set?
Yes, and it is not included. A wire puller lifts the keycap straight up without marking the plastic or loading it sideways. Without one you pull at an angle and risk tearing the stem off the switch — the most fragile part of the board. Use the teardown to dust the plate.
