The Butcher of the Sands
Renekton has no plan: he has a blade, a rising rage and a ten-second window during which you had better be somewhere else. The set turns that into three tones, the dark red of fury, the ochre of Shuriman sand, the gold of an Ascended's bands, with hard lines rather than gradients. It is a palette that pushes hard: on a black keyboard it bites nicely, on a white one it turns into a warning signal, which may be exactly the effect you want. It is aimed at the top laner who plays the short trade and hits his keys the way he hits in lane. The Renekton artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher.
Fitting and compatibility first, material second
This set ends up under the fingers of a player who presses hard, so let us start with fitting. MX cross-stem: pull off a cap, find a raised cross on the switch and you are set, meaning Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh and Outemu. OEM profile, whose height changes row by row: put each key back on an equivalent row or you will feel a step as you cross over. The supplied puller slides in diagonally and pulls straight up, all from above. The 12 keys spread out freely, in AZERTY or QWERTY. As for material: PBT, denser than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, matte grain; dye-sublimated pattern that has entered the material, so nothing raised and nothing to chip.
Neither a performance accessory nor a keyboard
A theme this blunt makes you think of a performance accessory: it is not one. Keycaps do not make typing faster or firmer, that stays the business of the switches, which the set does not touch. Nor does it replace the whole keyboard: twelve keys cover one area, and manufacturer-specific widths stay as they were. A membrane keyboard or one with low-profile scissor-mechanism keys has no MX cross-stem, so there is no way to fit it; in the Cherry, XDA or SA profile the height does not line up. Dye-sublimated PBT is opaque, the legends do not light up. The Renekton artwork is an original design inspired by the League of Legends universe, with no connection to the game's publisher: not a licensed product.
