Description complète
GameCube HDMI adapter: using the Digital AV port, without opening the console
The first GameCube consoles, model DOL-001, have a Digital AV port at the back that carries the picture in digital form. This BitFunx adapter with GCVideo firmware plugs into it and outputs that signal over HDMI, with no soldering or disassembly. It is the simplest way to connect a GameCube DOL-001 to a modern TV.
What it does
- Digital signal to HDMI: the picture is taken from the Digital AV port, without going through analogue.
- Remote-controlled OSD menu: picture settings from the supplied infrared remote control.
- Line doubler and scanlines: the 240p picture can be doubled to 480p, with an optional scanline effect.
- Firmware updated via USB: the USB port is only used for updates.
What it doesn't do
- It does not work on the GameCube DOL-101, which has no Digital AV port.
- It does not work on a Wii, even in GameCube mode: the Wii does not have this port.
- It is not a scaler: the picture keeps the resolution produced by the console (optionally doubled). It is the TV that enlarges it.
- It does not make 480p available in games that do not offer it.
Compatibility
GameCube DOL-001, all regions, provided the Digital AV port is present at the back of the console. The DOL model number is on the underside of the console. Not compatible with the GameCube DOL-101 or the Wii.
Skill level required
None. The adapter plugs into the Digital AV port and the HDMI cable goes to the TV. The supplied bracket helps hold the assembly at the back of the console. An optional firmware update requires a computer and the supplied USB cable.
In the box
- 1 HDMI adapter with metal housing, black.
- 1 infrared remote control.
- 1 holding bracket.

The job: plug it in, that's all
On a GameCube DOL-001, the Digital AV port was waiting for an original cable that has become rare. This adapter plugs straight into it: you secure it with its bracket, run an HDMI cable to the TV, and the console displays a clean digital picture. No screwdriver, no soldering iron, and the console stays original.
The part: a GCVideo adapter by BitFunx
GCVideo is open-source firmware written to use the GameCube's Digital AV port. BitFunx builds it into a compact metal housing, with a remote control for its OSD menu: line doubler for 240p, scanlines, picture settings. The USB port is only used for firmware updates, not for power.
The support: checking your console before buying
It all comes down to the model number: DOL-001 with a Digital AV port is compatible; DOL-101 is not. If in doubt, send us a photo of the back of your console; our customer service replies within 1 business day. For 480p, enable progressive mode in each game that offers it.

🔧 Do I need to solder or open the console?
No. The adapter plugs into the Digital AV port at the back of the GameCube DOL-001. No soldering, no disassembly.
🎮 How do I know if my GameCube is compatible?
Turn it over: the DOL-001 model number is on the underside of the console, and the Digital AV port is visible at the back, next to the analogue output. The DOL-101 does not have this port and is not compatible.
🕹️ Does it work on a Wii?
No. The Wii has no Digital AV port, including in GameCube mode.
