Description complète
8BitDo Micro: 24.8 grams, 16 buttons, and a keyboard mode
The Micro fits in the palm of your hand: 72 mm long and 24.8 g. Yet it packs 16 buttons and claims 12 hours of battery life. Its appeal goes beyond its size: its keyboard mode lets it control software that does not expect a controller, where other mini controllers fall short.
What it does
- 72 × 40.7 × 14.1 mm and 24.8 g: it slips into a shirt pocket.
- 16 buttons despite its size, in D-input and Switch modes.
- Keyboard mode: each button sends a key, remappable in the mobile version of Ultimate Software.
- 12 hours of battery life claimed on a 180 mAh battery, recharged in 1 to 2 hours.
- Switch and Switch 2 supported, and wrist strap included in the box.
What it doesn't do
- On Apple, Windows and macOS, only keyboard mode is stated. The Micro is not recognised as a game controller there: it sends keystrokes. On these machines, you therefore need software that accepts keyboard control.
- No analogue stick. D-pad and buttons only: it covers 8-bit and 16-bit, not PlayStation or Nintendo 64.
- Neither vibration nor gyroscope is mentioned by the manufacturer.
- The format suits short sessions or small hands; it is not a living-room controller.
- It does not connect to an original retro console without a dedicated Bluetooth receiver, sold separately.
- Supplied without games, in compliance with the law.
Compatibility
Stated by the manufacturer for Switch (3.0.0 and later), Switch 2 (20.1.1 and later) and Android 9.0 and later in controller mode. On Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Windows, the manufacturer states keyboard mode only. The connection is via Bluetooth or cable.
Getting started
No disassembly, no soldering. The mode is selected when pairing, using the button combination given in the manufacturer's instructions. Keyboard mode remapping is done in the mobile version of the Ultimate Software app, which also handles firmware updates.

Sixteen buttons in seven centimetres
The challenge with a mini controller is how many controls you can fit without your fingers getting in each other's way. The Micro lines up sixteen of them over 72 mm, D-pad included, with buttons spaced far enough apart to stay usable. That is what sets it apart from pocket controllers limited to a D-pad and four buttons.
Keyboard mode, its real speciality
In keyboard mode, each button on the Micro sends a key you choose in the Ultimate Software app. This lets you control an emulator configured for keyboard, a media player, a presentation or a living-room mini PC. It is a use few controllers cover, and the one the Micro is often bought for.
Controller on Switch, keyboard on other devices
This is the nuance to know before ordering. The manufacturer states controller mode for Switch, Switch 2 and Android. On iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Windows, only keyboard mode is stated: the Micro sends keystrokes there, not game inputs. Useful for an emulator, useless for a game that requires a recognised controller.

Why buy here rather than on a marketplace
It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.
Every listing is checked before publication: platforms actually supported, stick technology, connectivity, what the controller does not do. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
A question, a pairing problem, a return: you write, a human replies within 1 business day. In French.
The 2-year legal warranty of conformity is handled by us — not by a form on the other side of the world. And 14 days to change your mind, with no need to justify yourself.
We do not claim to be the cheapest. We claim that you will know exactly what you are buying before you pay.
